Helping you find your way back to yourself.
Hi, I’m
Tierney Cauley
If you’ve been feeling mentally and emotionally exhausted, like you’re moving through your days but not fully present in them, you’re not alone.
Many of my clients seek therapy when something in their life no longer feels sustainable. They begin to realize they’ve lost touch with their own needs, emotions, identity, and sense of purpose. Inside, there may be restlessness, self-doubt, chronic stress, or a quiet feeling that they’ve become disconnected from themselves.
I believe meaningful healing begins by understanding the whole person. Rather than focusing on symptoms alone, I look at how your brain, nervous system, relationships, life experiences, and environment have shaped the way you think, feel, relate, and respond to the world. Together, we’ll make sense of those patterns so they no longer define your future.
Through online therapy for anxiety, trauma, nervous system dysregulation, attachment wounds, burnout, and life transitions, I help adults reconnect with themselves, strengthen emotional resilience, and create meaningful, lasting change.
Together, we’ll help your mind and nervous system feel safer, understand the patterns that keep you stuck, reconnect with your identity and purpose, and build a life that feels more authentic, intentional, and aligned with who you are.
Who I Help
I help adults who are motivated for therapy and ready to understand themselves more deeply.
Many are introspective, growth-oriented people who are functioning in their daily lives or staying busy to keep things together, but now feel disconnected, emotionally exhausted, or unsure of who they are. They may be navigating transitions, relationship changes, or simply a season of life that no longer feels aligned with who they want to be.
You may notice:
Feeling mentally exhausted and not like yourself anymore
Questioning your identity, values, or sense of direction
Difficulty relaxing, sleeping, or shutting off racing thoughts
Feeling disconnected from others or emotionally numb
A sense of emptiness beneath staying busy or holding things together
Who I Work With
I work with people who are navigating significant stress, trauma, relationship challenges, or life transitions, and who want to better understand the thoughts, beliefs, and emotional patterns shaping their lives.
Persistent anxiety, racing thoughts, or chronic stress
Trauma, PTSD, or dissociation that leaves you feeling on edge, emotionally overwhelmed, disconnected, or unable to fully move forward
Attachment patterns that affect trust, boundaries, and emotional closeness in relationships
Perfectionism, self-criticism, and fear of failure
Burnout and emotional exhaustion in caregiving or service-oriented roles
Men navigating stress, burnout, self-doubt, or unhelpful patterns of thinking that impact their confidence, relationships, and sense of purpose
First responders coping with cumulative stress, relational issues, and repeated exposure to crisis
Depression, bipolar disorder, and changes in mood, energy, or motivation that make it difficult to feel like yourself
Nervous system dysregulation that leaves you feeling constantly on edge, overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in survival mode
Major life transitions, divorce, career changes, or shifts in identity
These struggles don’t mean you’re failing.
They are often signs that you’ve been in survival mode for too long. Therapy in New Jersey, offered through secure telehealth sessions, provides a place to pause, process, and begin finding your way back to yourself.
My Approach to Therapy
Therapy with me is grounded, relational, and paced for safety. You don’t have to have the right words or know where to begin. We’ll start where you are and move at a pace that feels right for you.
-
I believe the therapeutic relationship is one of the most powerful vehicles for healing. While evidence-based techniques are important, one of the strongest predictors of successful therapy is the quality of the relationship between therapist and client.
My approach is warm, collaborative, genuine, and deeply relational. I strive to create a space where you feel seen, understood, respected, and accepted so you can safely explore even the most difficult parts of your story. Rather than positioning myself as the expert on your life, I view therapy as a partnership built on trust, curiosity, and authentic human connection.
Many of my clients remain in therapy for extended periods because the relationship itself becomes a secure foundation for growth. Together, we’ll make sense of your experiences, strengthen your capacity for self-understanding and self-compassion, and create meaningful, lasting change that extends far beyond our sessions.
-
Much of our work focuses on helping you understand yourself, your emotional patterns, protective responses, and needs, so you can move from disconnection to self-trust. Drawing from Emotional Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), we pay close attention to how emotions and attachment needs shape your sense of self and relationships. You’ll begin to see how your past has shaped your present and how to create new relational patterns that align with your goals and honor your feelings.
-
Healing happens through both the brain and the body. I use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Polyvagal-Informed Therapy, and neuropsychotherapy to help you better understand your thoughts, emotions, nervous system, and patterns of relating.
Together, we’ll explore how your experiences have shaped the way your brain and nervous system respond to the world. Through nervous system mapping and regulation, we’ll identify patterns of safety, protection, and survival while building greater flexibility, resilience, and emotional regulation. This work supports lasting change by helping you process trauma, strengthen self-awareness, and respond to life with greater intention rather than automatic reactions.
Modalities I Use
-
helps you to understand how your thoughts influence your emotions, behaviors, and patterns of stress or anxiety. CBT focuses on changing your relationship with your mind by identifying unhelpful thinking patterns and learning more flexible, intentional ways of responding, which can reduce anxiety and increase clarity and control in daily life.
-
Encourages awareness and acceptance of difficult internal experiences while helping you to handle difficult thoughts and emotions without getting stuck, and taking small, values-aligned actions that move your life in a meaningful direction.
-
A structured, evidence-based method that helps process anxiety, looping thought patterns and fears, traumatic or distressing experiences while also shifting deeply held beliefs. Overtime, memories, become less emotionally charged, feel less overwhelming and no longer define how you move through life.
-
Supports healing from attachment wounds by helping you recognize emotional patterns, express needs clearly, form more secure, authentic relationships, and achieve emotional wellness.
-
Teaches you how to notice your body’s stress responses and use grounding tools to bring your nervous system back to safety and balance and to seek connection with others.
-
Combines insight, mindfulness, and self-awareness practices to help you reconnect with your body’s cues, restore balance, manage chronic stress, strengthen resilience, and enhance wellness.
-
Brain-based therapy that combines neuroscience, neuroplasticity, and psychotherapy to promote lasting change

What to Expect Working With Me
Starting therapy can feel vulnerable. My goal is to make the process clear and supportive from the start.
Initial Consultation
A free 15-minute call to share what feels hardest, ask questions, and see if we’re a good fit. You’ll leave with clarity and next steps.
Personalized Plan
In our early sessions, we’ll identify what you most want to understand or change. Together, we’ll create a plan that blends emotional insight with practical strategies for balance and self-trust.
Ongoing Support
Over time, therapy becomes a space to process experiences, deepen self-understanding, and practice new ways of showing up. You’ll start to feel more grounded, connected, and confident in who you are.
Why I Do This Work
I’ve always been deeply sensitive and emotionally attuned, someone who naturally noticed and cared about others’ inner worlds. My own life has been shaped by experiences that deepened my understanding of healing, resilience, and growth. Those experiences taught me the power of empathy, patience, and presence, and they continue to guide me every day.
I believe healing can come through making sense of your experiences and learning new ways to relate to yourself and the world, rather than trying to push pain away or pretend it hasn’t mattered. My approach is grounded in both evidence-based practice and genuine human connection, because true healing happens when insight is paired with safety to explore what’s beneath the surface.
I’m especially drawn to supporting people in roles of service and strength, those who give so much to others but rarely have space to pause for themselves. My goal is to help clients reconnect with their identity, improve their relationships, regulate their nervous system, and rediscover a sense of purpose, balance, and authenticity in life.
My Core Values in Practice
Authenticity
I show up as my genuine self in every interaction so you can do the same.
Compassion

Connection

Hope
Even when it’s hard to believe in change, I’ll hold that hope for you until you can feel it again.
Wisdom
I blend evidence-based knowledge with lived understanding, helping you make sense of your mind and body in real time.
Integrity
I communicate clearly and maintain transparency, so therapy feels consistent and secure.

Tierney is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), Certified First Responder Counselor (CFRC), Board Certified Telemental Health Provider (BC-TMH), Certified Neuropsychotherapist (NPT-C), National Certified Counselor (NCC), adjunct professor, and founder of Eunoia Mental Health & Wellness. She has over 6 years of clinical experience in community and forensic mental health, where her work with individuals experiencing significant trauma, chronic stress, and complex clinical presentations shaped her integrative and relational approach to psychotherapy.
Her clinical philosophy is grounded in understanding and treating the whole person. Tierney integrates knowledge of brain functioning with emotional and physiological processes, emphasizing the connection between the mind and body in healing. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, she considers the interconnected relationships between the mind, emotions, nervous system, physical health, relationships, identity, and life experiences. She believes meaningful healing occurs when these systems are understood together, allowing treatment to be individualized to each client’s unique needs and goals.
Tierney specializes in trauma recovery and the lasting effects of chronic stress on emotional wellbeing, identity, relationships, and daily functioning. She works with adults experiencing anxiety and panic, PTSD, attachment wounds, burnout, men’s mental health concerns, first responder stress, nervous system dysregulation and major life transitions. Her approach emphasizes nervous system regulation alongside evidence-based psychological interventions, recognizing that both processes contribute to emotional health and recovery.
Drawing from modalities including EMDR, CBT, ACT, EFIT, Polyvagal-informed interventions, and other evidence-based approaches, Tierney tailors treatment to each client rather than relying on a single therapeutic model. Therapy is collaborative, relational, and paced for safety, creating space for clients to process difficult experiences, strengthen resilience, reconnect with themselves, and develop practical tools that support lasting change and a greater sense of balance in daily life.
